Karin Korte began working as a social worker for the Regional Social Pedagogical Services (Neukölln Youth Welfare Office) in 1983. She was then director of a recreational center for the disabled in Alt-Buckow (1989–1991). In Kreuzberg, she implemented cultural programs for senior citizens (1992–2000, district office). Further stations were: First Migration Officer (district of Neukölln, 2002), Director Gropiusstadt (2006 to 2018) and Member of the Berlin House of Representatives (Integration Policy Spokesperson SPD, Committee for Culture, Civic Engagement and Participation). Since 2018, she has been Neukölln district councilor for education, culture, and sports.
