Chaz Maviyane-Davies an artist from Zimbabwe, residing in Boston, USA. His artistic work in Harare, Zimbabwe often confronted and challenged the authorities, why he felt compelled to leave his homeland. He then taught at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, where he now holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Design. Throughout his career, he has used images and ideas to cut through complacency and apathy, aiming to raise awareness on a wide range of issues including consumerism, health, nutrition, social responsibility, environmental conservation, and human rights. Maviyane-Davies has received several international and national awards for his work, including the 2018 AIGA Boston Fellow award, and the 2003 Museum of Fine Arts, Boston award for outstanding innovation in his commitment to societal transformation and justice. His work has been featured in numerous publications and is part of permanent collections in various galleries worldwide.
