Migrantas: a visual language of migration and coexistence.
Using pictograms, Migrantas makes the thoughts and voices of people with and without a migration background visible. In this way, it stands up against racism and discrimination of all forms and pleads for a more inclusive society.
The members of the association, who themselves immigrated to Berlin, see themselves as a collective and conceive their work participatively with participants of different residence status, cultural and social backgrounds in workshops, condense drawings into pictograms and distribute them in the urban space. Feelings and real life experiences are thus transferred from the individual to the public sphere, encouraging people to self reflextion and initiating an indirect intercultural dialogue in everyday situations.
