Problems in Berlin's neighborhoods such as homelessness or rising rents are closely linked to global developments.Nevertheless, issues of social and global justice are played off against each other.What's more: the work of civil society initiatives from development policy, political education, the climate movement or democracy promotion in the neighborhoods is coming under increasing pressure.

It is precisely these people who shape society with their commitment to social and global justice, ecological sustainability and an inclusive and anti-racist city.Together with partners in local administration, they are committed to more democratic participation: They shape democracy - every day.

Together with the BerlinTogether initiative, we invite actors from civil society and administration to the Glocal Summer Day to take action through exchanges with people who strengthen democracy: How can we - together and across electoral periods - strengthen democracy in Berlin and at the same time advance global justice?In addition, representatives of the Mundurukus from the Brazilian Amazon region are visiting: Which strategies help against attacks on democratic and indigenous rights - in Berlin and in the Amazon?

Whether urban development, neighborhood work, economics for the common good, sustainability, development policy or democracy promotion: people from associations and initiatives, from state and local administrations, from educational institutions or the local economy who are committed to a globally just restructuring of society and who focus on democratic structures are invited.
