Berlin Postkolonial e.V. is an initiative of descendants of the colonized and of colonizers who have engaged collaboratively since 2007, critically examining the colonialism originating from Berlin, Germany, and Europe. Important topics of engagement are the critical treatment of colonialism in public spaces, the repatriation of ancestral remains from anthropological collections, the return of looted cultural treasures, and the payment of reparations to victims of colonialism, especially to the victims of the genocide against the Herero and Nama.
