Orevaoghene Jenkins Okpokpor is an artist based in Lagos, Nigeria, specialized in painting. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Benin, Nigeria. Okpokpor’s artistic journey is deeply embedded in the framework of African and Diaspora art. His art is driven by curiosity and passion for initiating critical discourse. Through his work, Okpokpor aims to ignite conversations and delve into the complex layers of postcolonial and postmodern culture as well as the process of knowledge production. According to Okpokpor Africa's artistic expressions become a powerful tool for unpacking and understanding the multifaceted consequences of colonial forces. He is a Fellow of the Ahiamwen Guild, a collective of Nigerian artists and bronze casters, that has called on the British Museum to return its significant collection of Nigerian artefacts, which include the world’s largest assembly of Benin sculptures and plaques.
