The memorial consists of four stations that are sculpturally integrated into the architecture, either by being raised above the ground or embedded in the ground. The first sculpture is located in front of the new building and consists of a triangular marble column. It is encircled by stones that are embedded in the ground and are only partially visible. The second sculpture leads us into the entrance area and also consists of a triangular marble column. This one, however, stands on a concrete staircase element. This sculpture, too, is encircled by stones embedded in the ground.
The third element has the shape of a rhombus and is made from stone. One half is raised above the ground and the other half is step by step embedded in the ground. It shall remind us of the stone steps in ritual structures such as Machu Pichu, or the Teotihuacan ruin in Mexico. The fourth element consists of a pavilion that is shaped like a rhombus, is gradually embedded and is covered with a bamboo roof. In the middle, there is a square with four colours. The four colours refer to indigenous people, people from Africa, Europe and the Orient.
With the concept of the four stations, the artists suggest »to heal the colonial roots of modernity, i.e. the Ego Conguiro (I conquer, origin of marginalisation, subalternisation, the inferiority complex and the denial of otherness.«
