We are thankful and delighted about the 671 registrations for the Decolonial Memorial.

Thank you to anybody who supported, who shared and to all those who registered following our call. We are happy our call was also heard by the artistic networks in the areas formerly colonized by Germany.

All those who registered successfully will be updated via E-Mail soon.

We will give updates on our Instagram and Facebook channel, our Newsletter and here.

The registration process has been outsourced to guarantee anonymity and equal chances in the run of the competition.

The Decolonial Memorial EarthNest Officially Opened

On November 14, 2024, Berlin Global Village made history: with a grand opening ceremony, the Decolonial Memorial EarthNest was officially unveiled.

Opening of the Decolonial Memorial

Starting November 15, 2024, the artwork EarthNest by The Lockward Collective will be open to the public. This marks a historic moment as Berlin welcomes its first memorial dedicated to decolonization.

Prof. Dr. Walter D. Mignolo visits the Berlin Global Village

He is one of the leading thinkers in decolonial theory and showed particular interest in the Decolonial Memorial that is currently being built in front of our building.

Exhibition: Art on Cardboard – From Waste to Portrait

Cardboard boxes that would normally end up in the trash are given a new purpose in this exhibition by Eduardo Lopez: each recycled canvas now carries a face, a gesture, a presence. The Mexican self-taught artist deliberately shows his work in community spaces to make it accessible to everyone. On view until April 30th at the Begegnungscafé at Berlin Global Village.
