Flag of Roots waves the hope of overcoming nation-states for the utopian idea of global villages. Nature and landscape are an infinite continuum, a flag made of nature replaces the nation-states, the symbol of a territory without borders and dominating forces. It transforms the colonial idea of conquering and expanding nations to sow unlimited territories; it aims to propose emancipatory systems based on a social, ecological, and educational approach to the land. It calls for restoration and visibility, bringing to the surface what is usually underground and listening to what is hidden.
Through its form, it addresses the capacity of trees to coexist, adapt, and relate to each other in silence as a sacred act of respect - a decolonial form against geopolitical devastation. Approaching the environment as a learning ecosystem, it is a political statement against the human ambition to conquer rather than coexist. Flag of Roots is decolonial by nature.
