Exhibition: GATHERING OTHERWISE & recap of the Opening

GATHERING OTHERWISE - Diasporic Entanglements

featuring works by Soukaina El Adak, Martha Díaz Adam, Juan Camilo Alfonso and Ọládayọ̀ Thomas

As part of an open call for creatives, artists and creatives were invited to submit works engaging with decolonial aesthetics. At the center of the resulting group exhibition, Gathering Otherwise - Diasporic Connections, is an exploration of diasporic identities - that is, lived realities shaped by migration and diverse cultural influences. The exhibition brings together works by Soukaina El Adak, Martha Díaz Adam, Juan Camilo Alfonso and Ọládayọ̀ Thomas.

Through photography, painting, and textile works, the artists approach the theme in different ways. How does the afterlife of colonialism continue to shape our societies? And how are notions of self and identity transformed across time and place? Together, they open up a space for reflecting on one’s own positionings, belongings, and ruptures.

The exhibition opening took place on May 28th 2026 as part of the EarthCeremony on the EarthNest. If you missed it, you have a chance to see the exhibition untill July 10th:

📍 Where: Begegnungscafé, Berlin Global Village, Am Sudhaus 2
