✨ What is the EPIZ Library?

The EPIZ Library is a unique space at Berlin Global Village where parents, teachers, educators from early-childhood centers and schools, as well as multipliers can discover and borrow materials on Global Learning free of charge.

With around 5,000 media items, the library offers a diverse and carefully curated collection that makes global perspectives visible. The selection of materials follows a clear set of criteria: for example, stories in children’s books depict different lived realities and deliberately avoid reproducing stereotypical clichés. There is a high diversity of languages, topics, and perspectives. The materials are intended to empower children and young people rather than marginalize them, and to avoid reproducing colonial continuities.

🧒🏾 What can you borrow?

Children’s books & picture books (ages 3–12)For parents and elementary school teachers alike: the books show diverse family structures, the lived realities of children of Color, and worlds far removed from eurocentric norms.

Graphic novels (ages 10–16)

A selection that makes complex topics—identity, migration, resistance, and justice—accessible through visual storytelling.

Nonfiction on global justice

Including topics such as economics, human rights, religion, anti-discrimination, climate, and global power relations

Educational materials

Interactive tools for classroom use, project days, or everyday work in early-childhood education, such as:
• simulation games
• board games
• thematic kits
• teaching methods and lesson concepts

All borrowable media can be easily found via the online search.

🧑🏾‍🤝‍🧑🏽 Group visits

✨ Why this library is so important
The EPIZ Library’s collection is unique in Berlin: it brings together Global Learning, contemporary educational approaches, and practical materials for pedagogical work.
It supports everyone who works with children and young people and wants to enable them to think about the world critically, in solidarity, and from a global perspective—beyond dominant and long-established narratives.

🧭 About EPIZ e.V.

Through its work, EPIZ contributes to diversity in education by making perspectives beyond Europe visible.

EPIZ e.V. provides teaching materials for schools, early-childhood centers, and vocational schools, interactive school programs, as well as practice-oriented training and consultation to integrate globalization and sustainability into education.

The aim is to make past and present global connections visible and to reflect on one’s own role and responsibility. It is about social justice, human rights, and the future viability of our world.
