The chili plant plays a central role in many cuisines around the world, including in Indonesia and Mexico.During the chili cooking evening, the kitchen becomes a political space: through two typical dishes, we reflect on the relationships between taste, memory, and belonging, as well as the journey of the chili plant through today’s cities of Jakarta, Mexico City, Windhoek, and Berlin.

The chili plant has traveled from the Americas to Africa, Europe and Southeast Asia and today plays a central role in many cuisines around the world, including Indonesian and Mexican cuisine.This chili cooking event is a practical exchange format that invites participants to reflect on the deep relationships between taste, memories and belonging.The kitchen becomes a political space in which everyday life is negotiated.

We will prepare an Indonesian and a Mexican dish and share the experience of cooking and eating together as we trace the path of the chili plant in the cities of Jakarta, Mexico City, Windhoek and Berlin, sharing stories of taste and migration.
