What emerges in the old building?

The construction work on the ground floor of the old building are ongoing. The rooms are barely recognisable. The Braustube has lost its ceiling and a wall. The old cantine and kitchen of the administrational building of the former Kindl brewery hardly remind of their old function. We are paving the way for a new use:

The rustic Braustube, which has already been the place in the centrum for different kinds of events since 2018, is making place for a big and modern space for up until 160 people, the Miriam-Makeba-Saal. Part of the old wood panelling and floor are staying though to preserve some of the old charm and history of the place. What sadly had to go was the bar, but a neighbouring small kitchen will be the place to prepare food and drinks. Floor to ceiling windows facing the west towards the square open up the room to a lot of daylight.

On the other side of the building, the former kitchen is turning into the “Weltraum”, a Global Classroom hosted by EPIZ. This is going the be a modern space for pupils, teachers and other persons in global education to educate themselves and others, as well as to try new, digital methods.

Next to it the premises of Casa de las Culturas de Latinoamerica, who have been an integral part of the centrum since 2018 already, are emerging from the old cantine.

At the end the centrum will finally have a joined entrance including a big foyer. Later will have the possibility to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee.
